Not every job at an auto body shop starts with a collision. A lot of what we restore is the accumulated wear on the outside of a vehicle that is otherwise sound.

Fit is the hard part

Anyone can hang a new bumper cover. Getting the gap even along the fender, the height right against the headlamp, and the tabs engaged so it does not sag in August heat is the part that separates a finished job from an obvious one. Covers arrive from suppliers with tolerances that vary, and the fitting happens before paint rather than after.

Cracked and scraped covers

Modern covers are thermoplastic and many of them can be welded and reinforced from behind instead of replaced. On a common vehicle a new cover may cost less than the labor to repair one. On something where the part is backordered for six weeks, repair keeps the vehicle usable. We price both and let you pick.

Trim, moldings, and the small parts

Faded cladding, a sagging rocker molding, mirror caps scuffed by a garage door frame, a grille cracked at the mounting tab. These are the details that make an otherwise clean vehicle look tired, and most are quick work.

Older vehicles

We take on exterior restoration on vehicles people intend to keep. That includes cutting out corroded metal, welding in new steel, and refinishing the area so it is protected rather than covered. A GMC Savana came through with the body compromised along both sides and mismatched door paint from earlier work. It left with new metal welded in and both sides sprayed a single consistent color.
